Dental treatment plan offerings could include but are not limited to root canals, extractions, deep cleanings, implant restoration, crowns, fillings, or any other necessary treatment.

Gallia Family Dental celebrates six-month anniversary with ribbon-cutting ceremony

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio, Feb. 24, 2023 - Gallia Family Dental celebrated its six-month anniversary with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 24 with the Gallia County Chamber of Commerce. Owned and operated by Dr. K. Daniel Willis, DDS, Gallia Family Dental is located at 878 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, OH.

The business started with a soft opening in August 2022, as it transitioned from Kyger Dental Associates to Gallia Family Dental upon the retirement of Drs. Tim and Billie Sue Kyger. The practice has retained the same familiar staff that the Gallipolis Community has come to know and love over the years, just under new ownership by Willis.

Upon completion of his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from The Ohio State University, Willis completed a one-year residency in General Practice Dentistry at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He then completed three years as an associate in private practice before purchasing and operating what is now Gallia Family Dental. Willis has enjoyed serving this community since opening his doors last fall.

“Gallipolis has been welcoming to my family, and that’s one of the aspects that makes this area so special,” said Willis. “My goal is to be able to make a big impact in this small-town community by providing custom-tailored quality care.”

Gallia Family Dental offers general dental care for all ages. Services rendered include but are not limited to implant and regular crowns; full and partial dentures; bridges; root canals; extractions; fillings and sealants; cosmetic dentistry, including veneers; and general hygiene offerings.

“As a provider, I strive to approach each patient’s situation uniquely, tailoring a personalized treatment plan. To me, dental treatment is not one-size-fits-all but rather individualized,” said Willis. “Educating before treating is also key.”

Save the date to join Willis and his staff for their public open house on August 11, 2023. Gallia Family Dental is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 740-446-7806. Drs. Timothy V. and Billie Sue Kyger announce retirement

In late August 2022, Drs. Timothy V. and Billie Sue Kyger announced their retirement with the following letter:

Dear Patients, Friends, and Family,

With much thought, planning, and consideration, we have decided to retire from the private practice of dentistry. Thanks to your support, we have provided over 81 years of combined service to you and our community (Dr. Tim – 43 years and Dr. Billie Sue – 38 years). Each of you have been very special to us. We have laughed together, shared joys and sorrows, watched our families grow, and worked together to improve your oral health and that of our community. Dentistry has been our passion and we have been incredibly blessed to have your support and friendship throughout these important years.

We also want to recognize our talented and dedicated staff. Together, we have been able to provide exceptional dental care in a safe, clean, and friendly environment. Our staff is a special part of our extended family and we are grateful to each of them.

First and foremost, we wanted to make sure that our patients had continuity of care. We looked for an individual who would love our rural community, treat our patients with utmost respect and kindness, and provide excellence in oral health care. Without a doubt, this process took time, hard work, and perseverance.

Please join us in welcoming K. Daniel Willis, DDS. We are very excited for you to meet him and his family. We truly believe that you will be pleased with our choice and continue your dental care with him. In addition, he will be able to do many of the procedures that we have currently referred out to other providers which have required you to drive out of town and experience long waits for appointments. Also, Dr. Willis plans to retain the current staff and we will help him transition for a couple of months.

Dr. Willis and his wife, Laura, have two boys Nicholas (5) and Isaac (2) with a girl on the way due at the end of the year. He is originally from Virginia, with all of his immediate family still residing there in the Roanoke area. She is a native Ohioan from the Dayton area. They've been married since December 2010. Academically, Dr. Willis graduated from the University of Toledo, with a degree emphasis in anthropology. He then attended The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and graduated in 2018. From there, he moved back to the Toledo area and completed a year residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center's General Practice Residency program. He's been in private practice since then. Dr. Willis enjoys the practice of dentistry. While he's familiar and comfortable with almost all aspects of the dental field, keeping treatment individualized is what he prefers to focus on. His greatest satisfaction comes from giving people the confidence and comfort of smiling.

When he's not practicing dentistry, Dr. Willis prefers to spend as much time as he can in and around water whether it's fishing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. He enjoys working with his hands and has, with his wife, renovated the last two homes he's lived in. Having lived in both Columbus and Toledo, the Willis family is ready to live and serve in a small town with a tight-knit community for many decades.

In closing, it is truly bittersweet to retire from the practice and people that we love so much. You have made our careers both enjoyable and fulfilling. You have been the focus of our career, the friends that we meet in the park, and the families who make our community strong. Thank you for being a special part of our lives and our profession. We will miss you!

All the best,

Timothy V. Kyger, DDS

Billie Sue Kyger, DDS
